Christian manhood begins with allegiance.
Before a man can be trained for leadership, endurance, spiritual warfare, household duty, or mission, the first question must be settled:
To whom does he belong?
The King's Men, Volume I: Foundations of Allegiance gathers the first three books of a year-long devotional training series under Christ the Lord:
The King's Claim
The King's Covenant
The King's Word
Together, these ninety devotions lay the first foundation of mature Christian manhood.
First, the man must learn that he is not his own.
Christ does not claim a religious corner. He claims the whole man. Body. Tongue. Eyes. Schedule. Work. Future. Hidden places. Worship. Nothing is neutral. Nothing is self-owned. The blood-bought man must learn to live beneath the crown of Jesus Christ.
Second, the claimed man must learn where he belongs.
Christ does not save men into isolation. He brings them into covenant fellowship, joins them to His church, places them among His people, and trains them through the ordinary means of grace. Worship, baptism, the Lord's Supper, elders, brotherhood, household discipleship, correction, and service are not accessories to the Christian life. They are part of life under the King.
Third, the covenant man must learn to hear and obey the King's voice.
Feelings are real, but they are not royal. Scripture feeds, cuts, corrects, commands, comforts, and lights the road. The man under Christ must become a man under the Word, shaped by what God has spoken rather than ruled by mood, impulse, or private opinion.
Across all three books, the reader is trained to confess:
I belong to Christ.
I belong among His people.
I live beneath His Word.
Each day includes:
Scripture
A clear charge
A devotional reading
Practical application
A training drill
A prayer before the King
The aim is not mere agreement. It is obedience.
Not religious noise, but steady faithfulness.
Not performative masculinity, but mature Christian manhood shaped by Christ, His church, His covenant, and His Word.
HOW TO READ THIS COLLECTION
As a complete standalone devotional:
Read one devotion each day for ninety days. Work through all three books in order and use this volume as a focused season of renewed allegiance, church-rooted discipleship, and submission to Scripture.
Do not rush. Complete the training drills. Bring the field texts into prayer. Let each devotion press into your work, habits, worship, relationships, temptations, and hidden life.
As part of The King's Men series:
This volume forms the first quarter of a full year of devotional training.
Volume I establishes the foundation:
Claim. Covenant. Word.
The later volumes continue through mercy, spiritual warfare, discipline, vigilance, household faithfulness, church life, perseverance, kingdom labor, and commission.
This collection is written for ordinary men with ordinary responsibilities. Some are husbands and fathers. Some are single. Some are young men being formed. Some are older men being sharpened. All are called to the same King.
Christ does not recruit weekend soldiers.
He claims the whole man.
Stand beneath His crown. Take your place among His people. Take up His Word.
Now train accordingly.
