The Mastermind

Seventy-two hours. One impossible opponent. A game that's been decades in the making, and Vince Tanaka is finally on the board.

For years, a voice on the phone has been pulling the strings behind the most twisted killers FBI Special Agent Vince Tanaka has ever hunted. He calls himself Reginald. He thinks of this as a game. And now he's ready for the final match.

The rules are simple. Vince has seventy-two hours. If he loses, someone he loves pays the price.

Vince is certain he knows who's hiding behind the voice. But certainty isn't evidence, and his opponent has been planning every move for decades. With his FBI team flown in from San Diego and the clock running down, Vince follows the trail from the streets of New York to Washington, D.C., where a crime scene looks hauntingly like the worst night of his life.

The deeper Vince digs, the clearer it becomes that this was never about the cases. It was always about him.

To win, he'll have to face a past he never knew existed.

The Mastermind is the fourth book in the Vince Tanaka FBI thriller series. It's for fans of James Patterson who like short chapters, a relentless pace and a final checkmate they won't see coming.
