The World Tilted: A Memoir of Cancer, Faith and a Second Life
What happens when the life you built so carefully is suddenly interrupted?
For twenty-five years, Saurabh thrived in the fast-paced world of Indian media, building brands and leading teams at The Times of India and Amar Ujala. Success was measured in numbers, revenue targets, launches and awards. Then cancer arrived, and his world tilted. Three surgeries, months of treatment, radiation and reconstruction followed. He had to learn to eat again, to speak again, and eventually, to smile again without thinking about his scars.
The World Tilted is not only a story about illness. It is a story about what illness reveals.
It is about Rajni, the wife who fed him through a tube, ran the household, stayed strong in front of him, and believed in his recovery on the days he could not. It is about faith, found in temple corridors and hospital waiting rooms alike. It is about childhood friends and trusted colleagues, even those he once mentored, who quietly disappeared, and the unexpected people who became family without sharing his surname. It is about a single phone call that restored his dignity, and an AI company with a human heart where, after decades of leadership, he became a student again.
Written with clarity rather than bitterness, this memoir traces a journey from position to purpose, from ego to humility, and from fear to quiet strength. It shows that healing is rarely dramatic, but built one ordinary day at a time: one extra millimetre, one painless swallow, one morning without fear.
For cancer survivors, caregivers, and anyone facing a difficult chapter, The World Tilted offers something rare: not easy answers, but real evidence that difficult is possible, and that impossible slowly becomes yesterday.
