Universe of Music

"The Universe of Music" provides an extraordinary, in-depth look at the history and the physics of music. On one hand, the author recognizes the sheer beauty and aesthetic nature of musical compositions, ranging from classical music to hip-hop. On the other hand, he can assess music almost mathematically. This book takes you on a whirlwind tour of music over the centuries, culminating in a deep understanding of what we mean by pitch, notes, scales and chords, and how the musical universe falls together in a magical, yet logical manner. Marcin Bela examines the pattern of piano keys and explains the math and the history behind the white/black separation. The book is written by a professional pianist, musical educator, and composer with a wide range of musical talents and interests. Honestly, you will never think of music the same way after you have read "The Universe of Music" because it opens your mind to a way of viewing both the microcosm and the macrocosm of music in a way that you had never considered before.
