What is Art? is an accessible guide that introduces young minds to the sometimes complex world of art. Readers will discover how art is all around us and learn about historical and contemporary forms of visual expression. With a conversational approach that helps decipher sometimes difficult artworks, author Etan Boritzer builds children's critical thinking skills and visual literacy by asking thought-provoking questions about the nature of creativity as they learn to understand art in its many dimensions.
Etan Boritzer is the author of What is Art?, the 17th title in his bestselling What is? series, now available in over 20 languages. Etan's publishing journey began at just 13 years old when his 8th-grade essay on the assassination of John F. Kennedy was selected for a New York City Public Schools tribute. By 19, he was selling his first booklet of poems, Noon Moon Days, on the streets of San Francisco.
Following careers as a Hollywood actor, writer, and owner of a contemporary fine arts gallery in Los Angeles for nearly 20 years, Etan founded Veronica Lane Books in 1992, dedicated to publishing "Books That Make a Difference!" He is currently developing the What is? series into an animated children's television show.
Etan is regularly invited to schools nationally and internationally to read from his books and to present his Young Writers Workshops to students and teachers. Etan lives and works happily by the Atlantic Ocean in South Florida with his wife, Patricia Eltinge, a renowned dream analyst and life coach.
