"Yet Another Alice Fallen: Adventures in Disassociation," Itey's follow-up to her first volume of poems, "Substituting Dangers: A Journey with PTSD," once again explores the experience of repeated trauma. This time, Itey focuses on the phenomenon of disassociation - a physiological and psychological event where the mind and body seem to separate. Making the parallel with Lewis Carroll's classic tale of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," Itey creates a "word collage" to capture her own experience of abuse and betrayal, and the resulting phenomenon of disassociating. In the prologue, she claims the identity of "Alice "- not Carroll's Alice - but a new fictional Alice that travels through the remnants of her fractured memories, and confronts the strained relationships with her family that result in the unearthing of these forbidden stories.
